Editor's Note: After The Open Range Record published this letter on July 27, The Sheridan Press published a notice that Dalton had withdrawn from the Sheridan County Clerk race in their July 28 edition, one full week after Dalton issued his press release and endorsement. The notice appeared on page A4 in their "Briefs" section. Sheridan Media also published Dalton's withdrawal on July 28.

Not all media outlets have your best interest at heart.
On July 8, 2026, Dylan Dalton, a candidate in the Sheridan County Clerk race, withdrew from the election. On July 21, 2026, Mr. Dalton penned a letter endorsing candidate Christine Temple in the race for Sheridan County Clerk. He emailed a copy of this letter to the Sheridan Press and to Sheridan Media for publication. Neither outlet responded to his submission.
As of today’s date, July 26, 2026, neither the Sheridan Press nor Sheridan Media has published the letter of endorsement on any of their platforms. Both organizations have been contacted repeatedly to inquire as to when they will share the letter, and why they have not done so already, as early voting for the 2026 Election began on July 21, 2026. Again, neither outlet has responded to multiple attempts to contact them. Interesting, considering Sheridan Press responded almost instantly to all correspondence dealing with their Candidate Guide for the 2026 Election. Furthermore, the Sheridan Press had no problem publicly humiliating candidates who chose not to take part in their Candidate Guide.
It is alarming that neither publication has done their due diligence in notifying the public on a very important matter that will cause people to possibly vote for someone no longer in the running for County Clerk. Not doing so makes them both look like they are supporting by omission, the current County Clerk.
Once again, the media are swaying public opinion rather than just reporting the facts and allowing the public to use their own intelligence to make an informed choice. Unacceptable. We the People need to hold them accountable and demand better. This comes dangerously close to Election Interference and should probably be construed as such.
How can we trust our own community when there are those within it that willingly withhold information that is vital in our decision-making process?
Only one media outlet published Mr. Dalton’s withdrawal and endorsement of current candidate Christine Temple. That media outlet, of course, is Cowboy State Politics and the Open Range Record, owned and operated by David Iverson. I can tell you from experience that Mr. Iverson does not care what side of the isle you are on, he will ask the hard questions regardless of whether you are a Republican, RINO, or Democrat. His organization reports the FACTS, which is what allows intelligent people to form their own conclusions on complex issues.
Sheridan Press, you need to do better.
Sheridan Media, you need to do better.
The current lack of fair reporting on important election-altering issues is inexcusable.
