LETTER

Editor's note: Managing Editor of The Sheridan Press, Ashleigh Snoozy, sent Mr. Pollak an email Oct 12 informing him that his letter (below) would be published in the Oct 15 edition of the paper as that is the next scheduled opinion page. Mr. Rogers' letter was published online Oct 10.

Editor,

Darren Rogers’ recent op-ed [in The Sheridan Press] dated October 10, 2026, regarding my candidacy for Sheridan City Council relies on easily disprovable fabrications and a severe distortion of public records. Sheridan voters deserve the actual facts, not a coordinated political smear.

First, regarding the school board litigation: I did not file a lawsuit over "hurt feelings." I sued Sheridan County School District 2 because they violated the U.S. Constitution. A federal judge explicitly ruled that the school district committed unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination. The $156,000 in legal fees was a penalty the district was ordered to pay because they broke the law and silenced a citizen. Standing up for the First Amendment is a victory for every taxpayer in Sheridan.

Second, the claim that an audit was scheduled due to a "lack of transparency" during my time as Republican Party Treasurer is flatly false. Local party minutes clearly show that I openly welcomed and cooperated with the audit to ensure total transparency. The books have always been completely open for review.

Third, Mr. Rogers invents conduct out of thin air. I have never videotaped city council meetings in Sheridan or Ranchester. Furthermore, my public comments regarding local officials have always been backed by documented evidence of official misconduct, which I have a right and a duty to address.

Finally, regarding the vehicle license citation: I made an uncompensated Facebook post to help a local friend sell a vehicle. While a court technically ruled that this triggered a minor licensing violation, I never sold anything nor attempted to profit from it.

I am running for City Council on a "Putting Sheridan First" platform because I have a proven track record of standing up to government overreach and demanding accountability. I look forward to bringing that exact same level-headed integrity, transparency, and backbone to the Sheridan City Council. Thank you for your continued support and your vote on November 3rd.

Harry Pollak

Candidate, Sheridan City Council
