Dear Editor,

I have a deep concern about the recent actions of County Commissioner Nick Siddle. Facts indicate that the Commissioner used a taxpayer-funded vehicle (2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer) and county resources (WEX gas card) to travel over 300 miles round trip on official time to lobby on behalf of the WCCA - Wyoming County Commissioner Association for a ten-cent-per-gallon increase in the gas tax. This trip did not serve the direct interests of local residents but instead placed an additional financial burden on them.

Taxpayer dollars should be used responsibly and transparently. When elected officials use public resources for personal or political purposes, it erodes trust and violates the principles of ethical governance. Our community deserves leaders who represent citizens’ best interests and uphold accountability at every level.

At the Monday, August 18, 2025 9AM Staff meeting, Commissioner Siddle at 21:15 minutes only stated he was going to be at the transportation meeting, not that he would be testifying and lobbing on behalf of WCCA – Wyoming County Commissioner’s Association to increase the gas tax another $0.10.

It is my opinion that Commissioner Nick Siddle needs to reimburse the Citizen’s of Sheridan County for the mileage ($0.70 per mile x 300 miles $210.00) used on the 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and the fuel used on the WEX account in the amount of $41.71.

That is a total amount due of $251.71

I urge county officials and state authorities to investigate this matter and ensure that public trust—and public funds—are properly returned and safeguarded.

Sincerely,

Harry Pollak
