TORRINGTON, Wyo. — Over the weekend at the Goshen County Republican Convention, Senator Cheri Steinmetz announced her re-election campaign for the Wyoming State Senate in District 3, saying the trust placed in her by the citizens of Goshen, Niobrara, and Weston counties over the past eight years has been a great honor.
“It has been a great honor to serve the people of District 3,” Steinmetz said. “I have always viewed this office as an office of service, not a stepping stone for political gain. In a constitutional representative republic, elected officials serve with the consent of the governed. That requires honesty, accountability, and a willingness to represent the values and priorities of the people who sent you there.”
Steinmetz first entered the Wyoming Legislature in 2015 after being elected to the House in 2014 and later continued her service in the Senate. During that time, she has served on Appropriations, chaired the Agriculture Committee and the Select Water Committee, and served on many of the Legislature’s major committees. She said that experience has prepared her to continue addressing the issues most important to rural Wyoming.
“Goshen, Niobrara, and Weston counties represent Wyoming’s independent rural lifestyle,” Steinmetz said. “Our communities are built on faith, family, hard work, personal responsibility, and responsible stewardship. Protecting our land, water, natural resources, constitutional liberties, and local communities remains essential to our future.”
Steinmetz said she is seeking re-election because her experience is needed at a time when the Senate has been pulled away from conservative principles.
“I believe Wyoming needs experienced, conservative Republican leadership grounded in principle and common sense,” Steinmetz said. “I have a strong conservative voting record, and I have done what I said I would do for the citizens I represent. That includes standing for the protection of land and water, fiscal responsibility, conservative family values, the sanctity of life, the Second Amendment, private property rights, and constitutional government.”
She said effective representation also requires practical service and direct communication with the people.
“I have worked well with local elected officials and with constituents across the district,” Steinmetz said. “Good representation means being accessible, accountable, and available. Common sense is a critical part of how we interact with people and how we govern the state of Wyoming. It matters in policy, and it matters in public service.”
Steinmetz also addressed the divide within the Republican Party, saying voters deserve clarity and consistency from those who seek office.
“Unity without truth is surrender,” Steinmetz said. “Wyoming has a Republican supermajority, but voting records make clear that not everyone who runs as a Republican governs as a conservative Republican. The people of Wyoming deserve representation that is transparent, consistent, and grounded in principle.”
“District 3 does not need empty campaign language or political convenience,” Steinmetz said. “It needs proven conservative leadership, sound judgment, and the willingness to stand firm when it counts. I have kept my word, I have done the work, and I am asking the citizens of Goshen, Niobrara, and Weston counties for the opportunity to continue representing their values, defending their freedoms, and protecting Wyoming’s independent rural way of life in the State Senate.”
