Over the past two years, far left extremists have made three attempts to assassinate the President. One is left to wonder when does all this stop and whether the American people will ever say “enough.”  

 

For years, leftwing media and social media types have been calling Donald Trump a dangerous far-right white supremacist extremist, a fascist, a dictator, a “king,” an authoritarian, a pedophile, a rapist, a traitor, and an “existential threat to our democracy.” Consider also the following words – all taken from direct quotes from preeminent state and national elected Democratic office holders:  

 “We are in an era of maximum warfare everywhere, all the time. President Trump is making the country look like a fascist state and he’s using a dictator playbook. This administration’s actions are authoritarianism on steroids, and we are at war.” 

 Were a person to believe all this propaganda about Trump being the equivalent of Adolf Hitler, why wouldn’t s/he not at least consider using violence to rid the country of such an evil being? This brand of Marxist thinking is now mainstreamed in the vast majority of American universities, and these seeds are starting to produce quite a bit of very nasty fruit!   

 

When you teach young people for decades that the United States is a racist, evil, oppressive country, it is not at all surprising that many of them resort to violence to “protect” the perceived oppressed against the putative oppressors. One example of the radical nature of the far left can be found in Michigan where the leading candidate for the Democrat nomination for an open Senate seat has included in his campaign appearances a far-left anti-Semitic rapper who has consistently made outrageous statements about America and Israel.  

 

The ideological forbears of today’s radical left were the radical, nihilistic revolutionaries – the Jacobins of France – who destroyed the then-existing French societal and governmental structures during the violent French Revolution, beginning in 1789. This ushered in three years of horrendous brutality resulting in the deaths of thousands of innocents and a complete societal breakdown. A cursory review of the stated strategies, tactics, and goals of today’s Democrat Party bear a striking resemblance to those of the French Jacobins. Thus, some now call them neo-Jacobins.  

 

The radical lineage of the Jacobins continued to spread throughout Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries. It included revolutions and societal disruptions until the crowning victory of this ideology in Russia in 1917 with the Bolshevik (Communist) Revolution, which ushered in a tyrannical totalitarian regime in Russia and spread its tentacles to the ends of the earth for 75 years. Nazi Germany was a slightly different brand of totalitarianism, but its tactics and programs were but the other side of a single coin from those of the Soviet Union.  

 

All of central and eastern Europe were swallowed up by the Communists after WWII, and in 1949 China and North Korea were added to the list of murderous regimes, as was Cuba in 1959, then Vietnam and Nicaragua, and subsequently Venezuela into the 21st Century. All in all, these totalitarian regimes have murdered well over 100 million people, and yet mankind is still tempted by the siren song of this ideology.  

 

As events continue to unfold across America, patriots need to calmly and rationally view them through the prism of history before casting their votes in November. As philosopher George Santayana famously noted, “Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat its mistakes.”
